Tigerair customers with booked Bali holidays are scrambling to make other plans after the budget airline announced it would cease flying to and from the Indonesian island.

This means inbound and outbound journeys from Denpasar won't go ahead from Friday onwards.

Customers with booked Bali flights will be offered full refunds, but many have still aired their frustrations on social media over the short notice and cost of last-minute replacement flights.

The dramatic decision comes after Indonesian authorities told the carrier it needed a new solution to regulatory questions over its Bali operations.

"As a result of this development, Tigerair Australia has made the difficult decision to withdraw from flying between Australia and Bali permanently," it said in a statement.
