Screams heard before stabbing murder

Neighbours heard screaming and yelling before a 41-year-old man was stabbed three times and died in north Brisbane.

Neighbours heard loud screaming moments before a man was stabbed multiple times at a unit complex in north Brisbane.

Darren James Lawler, 36, has been charged with the murder of Paul Shannon Andrews, 42, who died after he was stabbed in the stomach three times on Friday night.

Neighbour Tane Smith was at home when the fight broke out at the Mango Hills until complex around 8:30pm.

"I just heard screaming and then lots of yelling," he told ABC News.

"I went to go look outside and it was two people fighting. It seemed pretty intense."

Other neighbours heard the screams and also came outside to investigate.

Emergency services arrived at the Brushwood Court property soon after but they were unable to revive Mr Andrews and he was pronounced dead at the scene, police said on Saturday.

Detectives said the two men were known to each other.

Lawler was taken to hospital for treatment for wounds believed to have been received during the fight.

He is expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.
