The search continues for an elderly Perth doctor and his wife who were abducted by suspected Islamist extremists in West Africa.
Dr Ken Elliot and wife Jocelyn are believed to have been abducted in the north of Burkina Faso following an attack on the capital of Ouagadougou on Friday in which 28 people, believed to be from 18 countries, were killed.
The couple, in their 80s, moved to the country in 1972 and established a medical clinic in the northern town of Djibo, with a family statement released through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade saying they had "dedicated their lives" to helping the people of the region.
About 50 locals were wounded in the attacks, claimed by al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.
They targeted hotels and restaurants, taking 156 people hostage.
Security forces later regained control of the area, killing four jihadis and freeing those held captive.
