Search for German fruit picker continues

A tourist who went for a late night walk near Orange in NSW is still missing after two days.

A search for a German tourist missing in central NSW is set to enter its third day.

Arvid Stenzel, 19, was last seen leaving a campsite at Lake Canobolas, near Orange, in the early hours of Sunday to go for a walk.

About 3.15am he called in to the campsite's caretaker cottage, saying he was lost.

Police say Mr Stenzel, who was in the region fruit picking with friends, was given directions back to the campground but did not return.

His friends raised the alarm when they could not find him on Sunday afternoon.

The search has turned to the lake area with police divers also expected to be involved in the effort on Tuesday.
