The mothers of two Sydney teenage schoolgirls who went missing earlier this week have begged them to come home.

Teagan Lloyd and Skye Keenan, both 13, went to school in Rouse Hill in Sydney's northwest on Wednesday morning but left around lunchtime.

Superintendent Gary Merryweather said they were last heard of at a home in the Mount Druitt area about 4am on the Friday morning.

"Since then we have had no contact and we have been unable to track these girls any further," he told reporters on Saturday.

"It is quite out of character for these two young girls to run away. They have never done it before, they haven't been in trouble of any sorts before so we are very concerned about their welfare."

Both mothers begged the girls to get in contact.

"Teagan please come home or contact someone," Lisa Lloyd said on Saturday.

Speaking through tears, Ms Lloyd said: "We desperately miss you and love you. There is no trouble. We just need to hear from either of you.

"We are looking for you, we just need you to come home."

Skye's mother Gina Keenan said they haven't slept.

"We have been looking everywhere. Everyone is looking for you, everyone misses you. You are not in trouble, we love you."

Police have been monitoring social network sites and have interviewed all the students in Year 7 at the girls' school, as well as their teachers.

But Superintendent Merryweather said their efforts had been hampered, as the girls friends were talking among themselves.

"What we need is for anyone who has information to come forward to the police and let us know, not talk about it among friends."

He said the person who saw them in Mount Druitt was an acquaintance of the girls and had co-operated with police.

The girls have no access to money or mobile phones.

Both girls are described as being of Caucasian appearance and around 160cm tall.

Teagan has green eyes, long blonde hair and a thin build.

Skye has olive skin, brown eyes, long brown hair and a thin build. She has a New Zealand accent.
