A search has resumed for a fisherman who was swept off the rocks at Kurnell, south of Sydney.

The 27-year-old was last seen about 100 metres off the rocks at Voodoo Point, on the ocean side of Botany Bay National Park, after being knocked into the water on Thursday afternoon.

He submerged under the water before rescue crews arrived and has not been spotted since.

The Westpac Lifesaver Helicopter and a NSW Police helicopter were among the first on the scene, and resumed their search on Friday.
