Second Hawks player questioned by police

Hawthorn have confirmed a second AFL player is under investigation by police over an incident earlier this month.

Hawthorn have confirmed a second AFL player is under investigation by police over an alleged sexual offence earlier this month.

"Hawthorn Football Club can advise that Victoria Police made the club aware last night there is a second player under investigation for an offence that is alleged to have occurred on 9 October," said the club's statement on Sunday.

"Both players will assist police with their enquiries."

The Seven Network reported on Friday that two Hawthorn players were under police investigation after a 19-year-old woman told police she was raped in the back of a taxi and then at a property in Ashwood, after meeting the AFL players at a bar.

The incident allegedly occurred six days after the club's grand final win.
