Second lay day for Aussie Tahiti Pro hopes

Australia's six remaining Tahiti Pro hopes have been given a second straight day to put their feet up due to inconsistent conditions at Teahupo'o.

A second straight lay day has been called at the Tahiti Pro ahead of third-round action in Teahupo'o.

Australian hopes Wade Carmichael, Owen Wright, Joel Parkinson, Mikey Wright, Connor O'Leary and Adrian Buchan got another rest day after inconsistent one-metre surf forced the cancellation of competition on Thursday.

"We were hoping the swell would materialise today but it, unfortunately, hasn't yet," WSL commissioner Kieren Perrow said.

Event officials will make another call on whether to resume competition at 3am (AEST) on Friday.

"We believe (the swell) will fill in this evening and we'll take a close look at recommencing in the morning."
