A second man has been charged over an alleged king-hit attack on a teenager in Brisbane's nightclub district.
The 19-year-old victim was admitted to hospital after the assault, which occurred as he tried to break up a fight at a taxi rank in Fortitude Valley about 2am on Thursday.
Police confirmed they arrested a 21-year-old man on Thursday evening, hours after Corey Glen Schumann fronted the Brisbane Magistrates Court charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm.
The 21-year-old is expected to face the same court on Friday charged with one count of occasioning bodily harm whilst in company.
Schumann is accused of holding the teenager in a headlock as another man struck him seven times in the head and upper body.
He allegedly then released the victim only to deal his own "king hit to the head", the court heard.
The teen fell back onto concrete, with paramedics later treating him as he came in and out of consciousness.
The teen was released from hospital hours later with minor injuries to his mouth.
The duty lawyer representing Schumann said the young man may later raise the defence of provocation.
But Magistrate John Costello noted Schumann had a "serious violent history" and had previously failed to appear in court on six occasions.
He denied bail on the basis he could reoffend or fail to show at his next court appearance.
The alleged assault comes only a day after more than 1000 mourners filed into the Cathedral of St Stephen to farewell one-punch victim Cole Miller.
The 18-year-old died after suffering massive brain trauma from an alleged random attack on January 3, which also occurred in Fortitude Valley.
Acting Superintendent Peter Aitken said the circumstances of Thursday's assault were completely different from Cole's case, but added all violence was unacceptable.
"I urge people who go out to entertainment areas to enjoy themselves - they need to take responsibility for their actions," he said.
Police earlier released CCTV footage of the incident and had appealed for public help to locate the second man involved.
