Security issue diverts Sydney to LA flight

A security concern has diverted a flight from Sydney to Los Angeles, with the plane landing in Brisbane so the AFP could search the aircraft.

A Virgin Australia international flight has been diverted to Brisbane following a security concern.

Passengers and crew will resume their VA1 flight from Sydney to Los Angeles about 10pm on Wednesday after Australian Federal Police searched the plane and confirmed its safety.

"The safety of our guests and team members is always our highest priority," a Virgin Australia spokeswoman said in a statement.
