Joel Selwood's bid to return to Geelong's AFL side has stalled, with the skipper named as an emergency for Sunday's clash with North Melbourne.

A sore Selwood missed last week's win over Essendon but it was assumed he was ready to resume when named in the Cats' extended 26-man squad on Thursday.

However, Zach Tuohy was the only inclusion when the final 22 was released on Friday, the Irishman coming in for Zach Guthrie.

Darcy Fort, James Parsons and Charlie Constable are the other emergencies, with doubt still surrounding Patrick Dangerfield, who is nursing a sore knee.

The Kangaroos stuck with the same 22 that defeated Carlton for the Marvel Stadium encounter.
