A Queensland senator has urged the state government to consider culling crocodiles, warning of rising likelihood of human deaths at the teeth of the killer reptiles.
The Liberal National Party's James McGrath said crocodiles were increasingly encroaching in human areas, posing risks to people and livestock.
"A sustainable crocodile cull should be considered by the Queensland state government. Humans first, crocodiles second," Senator McGrath told parliament on Tuesday.
Queensland Labor senator Anthony Chisholm said the federal opposition supported the rights of states to manage the issue, but didn't oppose the Senator McGrath's motion which passed on the voices.
Pauline Hanson backed a potential cull, saying crocodiles were causing human and animal deaths around Cairns and Townsville.
"People have lost their lives because of crocs and they're moving south," the One Nation leader said.
