Senator confident PM won't renege on ABC

Liberal Democrat David Leyonhjelm believes the government won't renege on a deal he's secured on ABC board meetings after his experience on the Adler shotgun.

Crossbench senator David Leyonhjelm is confident Malcolm Turnbull won't do a "Keenan" on him and renege on a deal to open up ABC board meetings, after his experience concerning the Adler shotgun.

The Liberal Democrat has secured government support to ensure at least half of ABC and SBS board meetings are followed by open community forums, in exchange for his vote to restore a building industry watchdog.

"The PM and I have a deal and the PM is certainly not going to do a Keenan on me and welsh on the deal," he told reporters in Canberra on Wednesday, referring to the Justice Minister Michael Keenan.
