One Nation senator Malcolm Roberts has been admitted to hospital for urgent treatment for an incarcerated hernia.

The senator was on a tour of western Queensland when he presented to the Charleville Hospital on Monday in what he described as a "high level of pain".

Doctors say he is expected to make a full recovery after surgery.
