It's a coincidence even sisters Meagan and Holly have called a miracle. Their story spans forty years and more than ten thousand kilometres.
As little girls in their native Korea, the sisters were placed in separate orphanages and were both adopted by American families who gave them new lives in the United States.
“What caught my attention is that when I asked Holly what her last name was in Korea and she said Shin and I went oh my gosh that's also my last name too as well,” Meagan told the Herald-Tribune newspaper group.
This year they started working as nurses at a Florida hospital and realised they had a lot in common.
“One of the patients,” says Holly, “told me there was another nurse, named Meagan, who was from Korea. She said you should talk to her, maybe you’re from the same town.”
“I was like; this is too good to be true. I said we’ve got to do the DNA test, it’s the only way we’ll get the truth out of the whole thing,” said Holly.
After an anxious wait, the results proved what they'd already suspected.
“I cannot believe I finally found my sister that I've been looking for her and all this time and I knew back of my mind I had she's somewhere out there and I never gave up on her,” said Holly.
Holly the elder of the two, at least knew she had a sister but both women grew up living with constant questions about their past.
Now the sisters have said that past is behind them.
