Parts of NSW and the ACT have experienced their wettest September on record, even before the last drop of rain has fallen.
Coonabarabran in the state's central west recorded 250mm up to Friday, more than double its previous September record of 102mm.
Cootamundra on the Southern Tablelands has also more than doubled its record with 205mm, while Canberra is set to pass its 150mm record set in 1978.
The record rain, while replenishing state and territory water storages, are worrying grain farmers in NSW.
In the far inland north, a record September fall of 105mm in the Walgett area is endangering what otherwise was looking to be a bumper season.
Farmers want warm and dry weather between now and when harvest starts in October.

Flood warnings are also in force for other inland rivers including the Macquarie, Warrego, Barwon-Darling, Murrumbidgee, Bogan, Murray and Belubula.
The weather bureau has forecast more above-average rain for most parts of southeast Australia between October and the end of the year.
