Services affected after Melb train derails

A train has derailed in Melbourne's inner north and one person has been taken to hospital with minor injuries.

One person has been injured when a train carriage derailed in Melbourne's inner north.

The carriage came off the tracks near Rushall station in Fitzroy North at 4.50pm on Saturday.

More than 100 passengers had to be helped from the train.

One person was taken to hospital with minor injuries, but no one else was injured, Ambulance Victoria said.

Metro Trains say the wheels on one of the train's carriages came away from the track.

"It is too early to speculate on the cause of the issue," spokeswoman Sammie Black told AAP.

Crews are on their way to the site to investigate.

Services on the South Morang line between Clifton Hill and Bell have been suspended, with buses replacing trains.
