Severe thunderstorms to hit NSW

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of the Hunter and Central Tablelands but could also move south to Sydney with large hail predicted.

Severe thunderstorms bringing large hail and heavy rainfall are set to hit parts of the Hunter and Central Tablelands.

The Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe thunderstorm warning on Monday afternoon predicting the weather to hit in the next few hours. Unconfirmed reports had hail in Colo Heights near Wiseman's Ferry at around 3.45pm, a BoM spokeswoman told AAP.

Areas that could be affected were Gosford, Cessnock, Maitland, Glen Davis, Carpertee and Bilpin.
