Severe weather threat passes Tasmania

The Bureau of Meteorology has cancelled a severe weather warning for southeast Tasmania where heavy rains had posed a risk of flash flooding.

A severe weather warning which included possible flash flooding for parts of Hobart has been cancelled.

By early afternoon on Thursday the Bureau of Meteorology had downgraded its forecast threat for the southern capital after heavy rainfalls measuring up to 55mm had fallen across parts of the state's southeast.

"The immediate threat of severe weather has passed, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary," the bureau website read, while maintaining flood warnings for some rivers.
