Four medical staff at an Indian hospital have been suspended after an accident victim was made to use his severed leg as a pillow.
"Four staff members including two doctors have been suspended and an inquiry has been ordered into the incident," Sadhna Kaushik, principal of Rani Laxmibai Medical College in Uttar Pradesh state's Jhansi town, told dpa.
The man, a school bus cleaner, was seriously injured when the bus overturned on Saturday morning, NDTV news channel reported.
"The doctors treated him immediately. It is not clear who placed the leg under his head," Kaushik said. "It may have been his attendant. We will examine CCTV footage during the inquiry."
The video has been widely aired on Indian television channels and online.
"When we reached the hospital, we saw his leg being used as a headrest. I repeatedly asked the doctors to intervene but they refused," Janaki Prasad, a relative of the victim was quoted as saying by NDTV.
The Uttar Pradesh government has also ordered a probe into the incident.
