Sexton to start Ireland's RWC QF v Arg

Ireland have named flyhalf Jonny Sexton to start their Rugby World Cup quarter-final against Argentina.

Ireland flyhalf Jonny Sexton has been passed fit to start against Argentina in the Rugby World Cup quarter-final in Cardiff on Sunday.

It gives the Six Nations champions some relief after an injury-plagued buildup to the game.

Missing the injured Paul O'Connell, Peter O'Mahony and Jared Payne as well as suspended flanker Sean O'Brien, the Irish have been nursing along Sexton this week after he was helped off with a groin injury early in the win over France last weekend.

Europe's premier No.10 was included in the lineup announced on Friday by coach Joe Schmidt, although Sexton is unlikely to be fully fit - judging by comments from Ireland team management this week.

Iain Henderson replaced O'Connell at lock. Flankers Jordi Murphy and Chris Henry came in for O'Mahony and O'Brien.

Ireland (15-1): Rob Kearney, Tommy Bowe, Keith Earls, Robbie Henshaw, Dave Kearney, Jonny Sexton, Conor Murray; Jamie Heaslip (capt), Chris Henry, Jordi Murphy, Iain Henderson, Devin Toner, Mike Ross, Rory Best, Cian Healy. Res: Richard Strauss, Jack McGrath, Nathan White, Donnacha Ryan, Rhys Ruddock, Eoin Reddan, Ian Madigan, Luke Fitzgerald.
