Canberra star Aidan Sezer admits his two-game-old halves combination with Blake Austin will be put to an early test by Parramatta's slightly older - but flourishing - NRL playmaking partnership.
Following respective injuries, Sezer and Austin played their first full match together on Monday night in the big win over Canterbury at Belmore Sportsground.
Their potential has caught the eye of rugby league immortal Andrew Johns, who had already nominated the pair as his NSW State of Origin halves' choice this year.
But Sezer said they were yet to hit their straps and had plenty of room for improvement.
"It's obvious," he said on Wednesday.
"We've only played two games together, so it's still a work in progress.
"We'll keep putting the hours together on the training paddock and hopefully that chemistry improves."
The duo will go up against rival halves Kieran Foran and Corey Norman on Saturday when the Raiders face the Eels at Pirtek Stadium.
Foran and Norman have only played four of this season's five games together, but have shown similar promise.
"They're both quality players and they've been playing well this year," added Sezer.
"Kieran Foran and Corey Norman are really talented individuals as well, so we'll have our work cut out for us.
"Hopefully, we can put a good week into training and turn up to Parramatta ready to play."
Sezer and Foran were two of the NRL's biggest off-season moves, with the former joining from Gold Coast and Foran from Manly.
But both have settled well into their new clubs, arguably the competition's most improved.
Foran has proven to be a steady hand at the Eels, while Sezer's kicking game was on-song against the Bulldogs.
"I've put a few more hours into that area," the ex-Titan added.
"I was happy with how it turned out on Monday but there's still a long way to go in the season."
