Rather than being daunted by following in the footsteps of Canberra's goal-kicking ace Jarrod Croker, Aidan Sezer is relishing his chance to kick the Raiders into gear this NRL season.

The Raiders' skipper went off injured in the NRL All Stars match with a dislocated knee, which is likely to rule him out of action until at least round five.

Croker has been the league's highest scorer for the last two seasons and took the mantle as the club's all-time leading scorer from David Furner last year.

Sezer said while the injury was disappointing, he has no problem taking over kicking duties from Croker in the short term.

"I'm pretty comfortable and I actually enjoy goal-kicking, but we've probably got the best kicker in the comp at the Raiders which I'm happy to sit behind and just wait in the wings," Sezer said.

Sezer had a handy conversion rate while playing for the Titans and stepped in to kick a brilliant goal from the sideline in the Raiders' narrow preliminary final defeat to Melbourne last year.

"I've been regularly doing kicking practice and it's something I enjoy," Sezer said.

"I did it for a while there at the Gold Coast so hopefully I can come into good form and do the job."

Josh Hodgson is standing in as captain in Croker's absence while talented youngster Nick Cotric and UK import Jordan Turner are among the leading candidates to replace him at centre.
