Shark attacks swimmer in north Queensland

A person is being flown to Mackay Base Hospital after a shark attack near a yacht moored off an island in the Whitsundays region of Queensland.

A shark has attacked a swimmer near near a yacht moored in the Whitsunday Islands region of north Queensland.

It's believed the man was swimming off Lindeman Island when he received a serious bite to a leg, Queensland Ambulance Service said on Wednesday.

A helicopter crew winched the man from Sawmill Bay and he is being flown to Mackay Base Hospital in a serious condition.
