Fixed-wing shark patrols are set to begin along Adelaide's metropolitan beaches, two weeks earlier than usual after a spate of recent shark sightings.
Emergency Services Minister Chris Picton says the patrols start on Saturday as warm temperatures draw large crowds to the coast.
"Aerial surveillance is proven to be an effective way to monitor our coastline for sharks, and warn swimmers or boaties of any danger," Mr Picton said.
"With the warmer weather upon us we've fast-tracked this year's fixed-wing patrols to give beachgoers the best protection."
Helicopter beach patrols began in October and together with the fixed-wing service will cost the government about $400,000 this summer.
