Shark trapped near scene of WA attack

A large shark has reportedly been trapped in Fisheries Department drum lines near where surfer Ben Gerring was mauled south of Perth on Tuesday.

A large shark has reportedly been trapped and seen thrashing around baited drum lines near where surfer Ben Gerring was mauled at Falcon Beach, south of Perth.

Western Australia's Department of Fisheries set baited drum lines at 7am (WST) at the site of the attack, to trap the shark as part of its controversial serious threat policy.

Mr Gerring, 29, is in Royal Perth Hospital fighting for his life and has lost a leg after the attack on Tuesday afternoon.
