Sharks coach Gold fined for TMO rant

Sharks coach Gary Gold has been fined for insulting the TV match official during last weekend's Super Rugby loss to the Crusaders.

Sharks coach Gary Gold has been fined $A15,000 for using crude and insulting language toward the TV match official during a Super Rugby game against the Crusaders.

Gold was found guilty of two counts of misconduct by the southern hemisphere rugby body SANZAAR after twice approaching TMO Johan Greeff and verbally insulting him during the March 26 game in Durban. Gold admitted the charges.

The Sharks lost the game 19-14 after a late try by Crusaders No. 8 Kieran Read.

SANZAAR said in a statement Tuesday that Gold had apologised to Greeff.
