Shaun Marsh has become the fourth Australian to be ruled out of the Indian Premier League because of injury after the Kings XI Punjab batsman hurt his back.

Marsh picked up the injury during his side's six-wicket loss to Kolkata Knight Riders two weeks ago.

Marsh missed Kings XI's opening match of the tournament with food poisoning, but has since been a solid contributor scoring 159 runs at 31.80 in six games.

The Kings XI, however, sit bottom of the IPL ladder with just two wins.

Marsh's setback follows the IPL-ending injuries of fellow Australians - younger brother Mitchell (side), Steve Smith (wrist) and John Hastings (ankle).
