Shaw added to Giants' AFL injury concerns

Injuries are threatening to derail GWS' tilt at a maiden AFL premiership with the side likely losing star veteran Heath Shaw for the rest of the season.

The Giants' fifth win in a row, and ninth from their last 10 starts, was soured by Shaw suffering a PCL knee injury that will see him miss up to six weeks.

The former Collingwood premiership player wasn't the only star to go down against Adelaide on Saturday night with All-Australian Josh Kelly copping a concussion and Sam Reid pulling a hamstring.

They join Toby Greene, Brett Deledio, Dawson Simpson and Sam Taylor, who were all injured in last week's thumping of Carlton.

Adding to that list, Matt de Boer was a late withdrawal against the Crows due to a hamstring complaint.

Not forgetting former No.1 draft picks Tom Scully (ankle) and Jonathon Patton (knee), who won't play again this season.

It pales in comparison to premiership favourites Richmond, who haven't suffered any major injuries.

But Giants coach Leon Cameron is refusing to get caught up in who the team will be missing.

"It was extremely difficult on the back of last week," he said.

"It was an outstanding win because our boys are just finding a way when the chips are down, and things aren't going their way.

"I couldn't be more proud of the boys at the moment.

The Giants play Sydney in a mammoth cross-town derby next Saturday with the Swans clinging onto their position in the top-eight.

"We had a couple of guys who were really good in our NEAFL side and they'll put their hands up, and that's the exciting thing, everyone that is coming in is playing their role," Cameron said.
