South Australian cricket's high performance manager Tim Nielsen is delighted at having to plug holes for the next Sheffield Shield round.
In a pink-ball, day-night round, the second-placed Redbacks host third-placed NSW from Monday, both hoping to reel in early pacesetters Victoria.
The Bushrangers meet Tasmania in Hobart while the winless West Australians host Queensland.
SA lose captain Travis Head and legspinner Adam Zampa - and Nielsen is rapt, as both are on national duty.
"Opportunities have presented themselves because of players going up to play for Australia which is exactly what we want," he said.
The Adelaide Oval fixture will be pivotal to the Shield ladder heading into the Christmas break - the winner will keep touch with the Vics.
Victoria (33.39 points) lead SA (22.27), NSW (19.26), Queensland (19.09), Tasmania (11.02) and WA (5.34).
SA have summoned batsman Sam Raphael and left-arm spinner Tom Andrews for the day-nighter.
"We played well in Perth under lights so we're hopeful that we can follow that performance up on a wicket we expect to be similar to that of the Test wicket, which was a great contest between both bat and ball," Nielsen said.
"As always, the team who plays the best over the four days will win the game. Whether day or night, and the players have had much more exposure to the conditions now."
