Another 22 jobs will be cut from shipbuilder ASC's Adelaide operations by the end of May in line with labour force demands on its air warfare destroyer program.

The company says the cuts are part of the progressive reductions on the project since its peak in mid-2015.

It says redeployment opportunities will be explored and voluntary and non-voluntary redundancy packages will be offered.

"ASC Shipbuilding has briefed the affected trade groups on the changes and support will be provided through the company's employee assistance program and career transition centre," the company said in a statement on Monday.

The new job cuts follow the loss of about 130 positions earlier this year.

ASC currently has about 1200 staff working on the air warfare destroyers with about 900 employed in its submarine business and in corporate functions in Adelaide.

It also employs about 390 people at a submarine maintenance facility in Western Australia.

In December ASC launched the second of the three air warfare destroyers being built for the Australian navy.

The third ship is due to be handed over to the navy in early 2020.

The company said it was actively pursuing future shipbuilding opportunities including contracts for the navy's offshore patrol vessels and future frigates which are due to start in 2018 and 2020.
