Jamaican sharp-shooter Jhaniele Fowler-Reid is sticking with the Southern Steel in a major coup for the southern netball franchise ahead of New Zealand's new Elite League.
With the trans-Tasman netball league to be replaced next year by separate New Zealand and Australian competitions, Fowler-Reid had turned down interest from elsewhere to remain with the Steel for a fifth season.
"Family is so important to me and I feel like family here," she said.
"Everyone looks out for me and, wherever I go, I feel like I'm home. This is my second home and happy players players make good players."
The 1.98m Fowler-Reid, 27, is the most prolific shooter in the ANZ Championship's nine-year history.
She set a league record 779 goals in the 2016 season with an accuracy rate of more than 90 per cent and also pulled in 88 offensive rebounds, as she helped the Steel to their most successful campaign.
Fowler-Reid - along with husband Andre and their six-year-old daughter, Drehannah - departs for Jamaica on Tuesday.
She will have a two-week break before going on international duty with the Sunshine Girls, whose programme includes playing the Silver Ferns in New Zealand.
