Shop blaze injures two in Sydney

Firefighters have contained a blaze in western Sydney that spread from a two dollar store to two other shops and injured two people.

A fire that began in a two-dollar store in western Sydney before spreading to two other shops has injured two people.

About 80 firefighters have contained the blaze that also engulfed a music shop and fabric store in Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.

Part of a building collapsed and one person suffered burns to their hand while another suffered from smoke inhalation, Fire and Rescue NSW Superintendent Ian Krimmer said.

Cherrypicker-style trucks were used to attack the blaze from above while crews made headway on the ground.

The music shop sustained minor damage but the fabric store was significantly damaged, Supt Krimmer said.

Fire crews remain on scene putting out hot-spots and mopping up.

They say the cause of the blaze remains unknown but some media reported it had been started by Christmas lights.
