Shorten unlikely to copy PM's childhood ad

We're unlikely to see a video ad of Labor leader Bill Shorten's childhood, like the one of Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.

We're unlikely to be seeing a childhood video of Bill Shorten anytime soon.

Unlike Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, the Labor leader says there isn't much evidence of his younger years.

"My parents I don't think took many photos of me when I was a kid," he told radio FIVEaa in Adelaide on Tuesday.

"Football teams and school photos seem to be the only proof of my existence between zero and 18."

A video Mr Turnbull released this week was widely seen as a response to a perception he is out-of-touch with ordinary Australians.

But Mr Shorten says he has no problem with Mr Turnbull's wealth - he just disagrees with his views.

"Remember he did muse on radio in Melbourne, if you're having trouble getting into the housing market just get rich parents," he said.
