Shot fired during NSW farm heist: police

A man has allegedly been shot at by two thieves who stole vehicles and guns from a farm in central west NSW.

A man has allegedly been shot at while attempting to chase down two thieves who stole guns and vehicles from his farm in the central west of NSW.

The man followed the alleged robbers in another car after he saw them drive his sedan and ute off a farm in Mirool on Saturday afternoon.

The driver in the ute shot at the owner during the chase, police say, but the bullet only damaged the car's window.

Highway patrol officers later spotted the ute on the Newell Highway south of West Wyalong and pursued it for a short time before giving up because of safety concerns, police said.

Another pursuit ensued between Ardlethan and Grong Grong but that was also terminated because of safety concerns.

The sedan was found burnt out on the Mid-Western Highway, west of West Wyalong.

Police said the ute was last seen in Narrandera and they've urged the public not to approach the alleged thieves but contact them immediately if they are spotted.
