A 35-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his shoulder and body is being treated in a southwestern Sydney hospital.
Police responded to reports of shots being heard in Blairmount about 10pm on Sunday but did not find anyone hurt.
A short time later a wounded man turned up to Campbelltown Hospital with gunshot wounds, police said.
The victim remains in hospital in a stable condition.
Two vehicles described as a white Range Rover with a black roof and a grey Ford Ranger were seen in the area at the time of the shooting, with the Range Rover later found near the hospital, police said.
