The surviving Victorian twin, shot in the head at a Colorado firing range, has been taken off the critical list and US authorities are hoping they'll able to interview her soon even though she remains heavily sedated.
One of the 29-year-old twins died and the other was critically injured in the simultaneous shootings at the Family Shooting Center in suburban Denver.
County Sheriff's Captain Louie Perea says the condition of the surviving twin had improved from critical to serious and police had made an unsuccessful attempt to speak to her.
"We attempted to interview her. However, she is still highly sedated so we were not able to do a thorough interview with her," he said.
"We are hoping either tonight or tomorrow to conduct a second interview of her."

But Captain Perea says police have ruled out the involvement of a third person in the incident and will now focus on determining if this was an intentional or accidental shooting.
The girls' identities have still not been publicly released and police have still not determined which of the twins died at the scene.
Capt Perea also said reports the twins' family members were en route from Australia to Colorado were incorrect, with family members still organising travel plans.
"We have been in contact with the family and the Consul-General's office and we have been advised by both the family is not en route and when the family finalises the travel plans they
will let us know," he said.
