There were reports on Friday evening of gunfire on the border of North and South Korea.
Shots rang out from North Korea, in the direction of a a South Korean military unit, according to Yonhap news agency.
YTN television said the shooting occurred in Hwacheon, about 90 km (56 miles) northeast of Seoul, AFP reported.
Al Jazeera television reported that the South Korean government had confirmed the shooting.
