Injury-struck paceman Peter Siddle has failed to train with the Australian side on Friday, two days out from the third Test against the West Indies.

Siddle , who is struggling with an ankle injury, chose not to train with the Australian side in an optional practice session at the SCG nets.

The Victorian appears in increasing doubt to play in the Test starting on Sunday.

Australian are set to play two spinners in the final Test of the season, with Stephen O'Keefe likely to come into the side alongside in-form Nathan Lyon.

Australia will likely make a call on Siddle on Saturday after the session he has opted to participate in.

There has been talk of Australian coach Darren Lehmann resting quick Josh Hazlewood after he has played all five Tests this summer. But the 24-year-old will play if Siddle is ruled out.

Australia take an unassailable 2-0 lead into the third and final Test of the series.
