Australian Test paceman Peter Siddle is set to return from an eight-month injury layoff after being added to the Victorian one-day cricket squad.
Siddle could play for the Bushrangers in Thursday's one-dayer against Tasmania at North Sydney Oval.
He flew to Sydney with the Bushrangers, replacing fellow quick Matthew Doric in their one-day squad.
Injuries meant the 31-year-old had not played since February's first Test against New Zealand in Wellington.
He has needed ankle surgery and also has suffered from back stress fractures.
"It's really good to have someone of Peter's experience and talent available to come into the squad at this important time of the tournament," said Bushrangers coach Andrew McDonald.
"He hasn't missed a beat in training.
"His progress in the nets has been impressive and we're happy to have him fit and firing.
"From Peter's perspective, it's obviously been a lengthy recovery period and he's very keen to get back out there with his teammates and he's itching to play."
Siddle said last week he hoped to force his way back into the Australian team by the end of next month's home Test series against South Africa.
