Siddle to return for Victoria

Dropped Australian paceman Peter Siddle will return to play for Victoria in the Sheffield Shield match against NSW at the SCG starting Friday.

Peter Siddle has been released from Australian Test 12th man duties to play for Victoria in their Sheffield Shield clash with NSW at the SCG on Friday.

The veteran paceman impressed in the final Ashes Test in England but was relegated to make way for Josh Hazlewood in the first Test at the Gabba.

He now gets another chance to press his Test recall claims as he replaces Chris Tremain in the Victorian side.

"While it is disappointing for Peter to be left out of the Australian side, it is pleasing that he has been released to return to the Bushrangers to ensure he remains in great bowling form for the second Test in Perth next week," Victorian chairman of selectors Andrew Lynch said.

Siddle took three wickets in Queensland's second innings for the Bushrangers in the opening round of Shield fixtures last week.
