Siemens to build new SA facility

Engineering and electronics company Siemens is to spend $5 million on a new facility in Adelaide.

Engineering and electronics company Siemens will spend $5 million building a new facility in Adelaide.

The new centre, which will mainly be involved in the repair and maintenance of turbines used in the oil and gas sector, is expected to be open in October next year and will employ up to 35 people.

It will be built at the Tonsley industrial precinct, the site of the former Mitsubishi car plant.

"This investment by Siemens is a significant vote of confidence in South Australia," Premier Jay Weatherill said.

Siemens said the technology precinct at Tonsley offered potential for innovation and collaboration, essential ingredients for successful business on a global stage.
