Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons put on a masterclass on Friday as the Philadelphia 76ers whipped the Washington Wizards 123-98 in the NBA.

Embiid scored 16 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and recorded his 22nd double-double as hosts Philadelphia dismantled the Wizards.

Simmons had 13 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds. It was the 15th double-double this season for the Australian.

Eight Sixers reached double figures in the win, half of them reserves, as they improved to 21-1 on home court with a third successive win.

It was also the Sixers' second straight win by at least 25 points -- the first time they have done that since 2008.

JJ Redick (14 points) has now scored double figures in 33 straight games, tying a career-best streak. He previously accomplished the feat with the Clippers in 2015.

"That was a good team effort," Philadelphia coach Brett Brown said.

"We were able to rest guys."

Simmons and Jimmy Butler sported matching white head bands as a sign of solidarity.

"They are defensive brothers," Brown said.

"They're blood brothers. That band, to me, signifies a bonding, a defensive bonding. I've asked Jimmy to put Ben under his wing and really help Ben be all he can be defensively."

In Charlotte, Utah Jazz held off the Hornets for a 119-111 win which included a 24-footer from Australian Joe Ingles.

In Boston, Kyrie Irving scored 29 points as the Boston Celtics topped their season scoring high for the second straight game, routing the Cleveland Cavaliers 128-95.

Andre Drummond had 19 points and 19 rebounds and Blake Griffin added 20 points and 10 rebounds to help the Detroit Pistons rout Chicago Bulls 107-88 for their fourth straight victory.

In Miami, the Heat snapped a six-game home losing streak by defeating the New Orleans Pelicans 106-101.

Josh Richardson scored a team-high 20 points - including a key drive with 26 seconds left.

Russell Westbrook scored 23 points to lead the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 124-109 win over the Atlanta Hawks.

In San Antonio, Clint Capela scored 27 points and pulled down 12 rebounds in just three quarters as the Houston Rockets rolled to a 136-105 win over the reeling Spurs.

Mike Conley scored 13 of Memphis' 14 points in the second overtime and finished with 37 as the Grizzlies beat Brooklyn 131-125 to snap a three-game losing streak.

Terrence Ross broke open a tight game with three consecutive hoops to open the fourth quarter, propelling Orlando to a 99-85 victory at Phoenix.

LeBron James scored 28 points as the Lakers beat Dallas 114-103 and Gary Harris scored 27 points Denver edged Portland 113-112 for its fifth straight win.
