Ben Simmons has played another big role as the Philadelphia 76ers beat the Atlanta Hawks 119-109, claiming their fourth win in their past five NBA games.

Following his career-high 24 points against the Houston Rockets, the young Australian scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds while also dishing out nine assists as the improving 76ers levelled their season record at 4-4 with their first home win.

Centre Joel Embiid continued his emerging combination with Simmons, adding 21 points, 12 rebounds and six assists.

Simmons, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 draft, has lived up to his top billing in his rookie year.

He has scored in double figures in every game and again flirted with a triple-double.

Simmons keeps saying he can play better.

Just how much more is he capable of?

"There's a lot more. Way more," he said. "I think in a few years, it's going to be fun."

The 21-year-old Australian has already joined Oscar Robertson as the only players in NBA history with 100 points, 50 rebounds and 40 assists in his first six games.

Simmons put an exclamation point on the win with a thunderous slam in the final minute that had the fans standing and chanting "Trust the Process!"

Elsewhere, TJ Warren scored 28 of his career-high 40 points in the second half and the Phoenix Suns overcame a 22-point deficit to beat the Washington Wizards 122-116.

Warren also had 10 rebounds and Devin Booker added 22 points to help the Suns improve to 4-1 under interim coach Jay Triano following an 0-3 start that led to Earl Watson's firing.

Goran Dragic scored 20 points and Tyler Johnson added 19 as the Miami Heat beat the Chicago Bulls 97-91.

Thaddeus Young scored 26 points, Darren Collison had 25 and the Indiana Pacers sent the Cleveland Cavaliers to their fourth straight loss, 124-107.

LeBron James had 33 points and 11 assists, but it wasn't enough to keep Cleveland from losing for the fifth time in six games and falling to 3-5.

Kyrie Irving and Jaylen Brown each scored 22 points in three quarters, and Boston coasted past Sacramento for its sixth straight victory, 113-86.

Kemba Walker had 26 points, rookie Malik Monk had a huge fourth quarter and the Charlotte put the clamps on the NBA scoring leader Giannis Antetokounmpo to beat Milwaukee 126-121.

The Minnesota Timberwolves beat the New Orleans Pelicans 104-98, Orlando Magic prevailed over the Memphis Grizzlies 101-99.

The Houston Rockets easily accounted for New York Knicks 119-97.

Rookie Donovan Mitchell scored a career-high 28 points and the Utah Jazz beat the Portland Trail Blazers 112-103 in overtime.

Jamal Murray scored 16 of his 24 points in a decisive third-quarter spurt as the Nuggets beat the Toronto Raptors 129-111.

And in the late game, the LA Clippers defeated the Dallas Mavericks 119-98.
