Ben Simmons notched his eighth triple-double of the NBA season and Joel Embiid scored 33 points as the 76ers edged the San Antonio Spurs 122-120 in Philadelphia.

Simmons produced a strong all-round performance with 21 points, 15 assists and 10 rebounds while he also made a key deflection with 1.1 seconds remaining when Marco Belinelli attempted a go-ahead layup.

DeMar DeRozan top scored for the Spurs with 26 while Simmons' compatriot Patty Mills contributed 17.

Simmons and fellow Australian Jonah Bolden combined for one of the plays of the contest when the latter blocked LeMarcus Aldridge twice on the same sequence and Simmons grabbed a loose ball off the second rejection.

He took off and fed it to Bolden for a crowd-igniting dunk.

James Harden scored a career-high 61 points, tying Kobe Bryant's record for a visiting opponent at the current Madison Square Garden, as the Houston Rockets edged the New York Knicks 114-110.

Harden made the clinching layup with 3.8 seconds remaining after the Knicks turned it over, capping his fifth 50-point game this season.

The NBA's leading scorer had earlier had passed Wilt Chamberlain into fourth place in NBA history with his 21st consecutive 30-point game.

The Boston Celtics coasted to a 125-103 win over the struggling Cleveland Cavaliers despite Kyrie Irving missing the game with flu-like symptoms.

Irving's replacement Terry Rozier led the Celtics with 26 points; Australia's Aaron Baynes was limited to two points while Matthew Dellavedova had seven points for the Cavaliers.

Indiana guard Victor Oladipo was helped off the court on a stretcher with what could be a season-ending right knee injury during the Pacers' 110-106 win over Toronto.

Spencer Dinwiddie dropped a game-high 29 points as the Brooklyn Nets beat Orlando 114-110 and Tobias Harris led the Los Angeles Clippers with 31 points as they beat the Miami Heat 111-99

John Collins had a career-high 35 points in the Atlanta Hawks' 121-101 win over the struggling Chicago Bulls.

A 31 point haul from Memphis guard Mike Conley wasn't enough for the Grizzlies against Charlotte as the Hornets running out 118-107 winners, while Blake Griffin's game-high 37 points helped the Detroit Pistons see off the Pelicans 98-94.

Donovan Mitchell matched his season high of six 3-pointers while scoring 35 points to lead Joe Ingles' Utah Jazz to a 114-108 victory over the Denver Nuggets.
