Sims to wear No.13 in Brisbane NRL trial

Last minute recruit Korbin Sims will wear the Brisbane No.13 jersey in Saturday's trial against Ipswich but the jury is out on who will replace Corey Parker.

Former Newcastle Knights forward Korbin Sims will wear the Brisbane No.13 jersey this weekend but the jury remains out on who will fill retired skipper Corey Parker's big shoes in the Broncos pack this season.

Sims will pack down at lock for an unheralded Broncos line-up in Saturday's trial against Queensland Cup club Ipswich Jets at North Ipswich Reserve.

The 19-strong squad also features Cowboys recruit Tautau Moga, another ex-Knight in Travis Waddell and Kiwi international prop Adam Blair.

However, it remains to be seen who will earn 347-game Parker's No3 jersey in 2017.

Leading contenders Josh McGuire, Jai Arrow and Tevita Pangai Jr are also set to stake a claim in Brisbane's February 18 World Club Series UK clash with Warrington.

The UK-bound squad flew out of Brisbane on Thursday night.

Last minute Brisbane recruit Sims believed his best bet for a starting spot this season was the front row after Test prop McGuire put his hand up for lock.

"Front row is my position and I want to play there for the Broncos this year," Sims told NRL.com

"I don't mind a bit of lock but I think Josh McGuire will start there for us this year."

Brisbane squad for Ipswich trial: Jamayne Isaako, Gehamet Shibasaki, Marion Seve, Tautau Moga, Corey Allan, Todd Murphy, Sam Scarlett, Francis Molo, Travis Waddell, Adam Blair, Matiu Love-Henry, Alex Barr, Korbin Sims. Interchange: Mitch Cronin, Aaron Rockley, Sam Lavea, Salesi Funaki, Jai Whitbread, Pat Carrigan.
