Singer tipped to be 'Aussie Susan Boyle'

A Melbourne woman has stunned audiences and judges on a German talent show, and has earned herself the title 'Australia's Susan Boyle' after a UK star.

A Melbourne woman is being tipped to become the world's next Susan Boyle after blowing judges and the audience away during a heat in one of Europe's most popular talent television shows.

Nearly 10 million people watched as Stella Zigouras stole the show on Germany's 'das Supertalent', receiving a standing ovation and making it thorugh to the semi finals.

Ms Zigouras is not yet well known outside of Germany, but she has become a sensation there.

Her website says she studied at Kew High School and moved to New York in 1998 where she gained a scholarship to study at the Mannes College of Music.

Ms Zigouras arrived in Europe in 2001, the website says, and settled in Munich, Germany in 2002.

She took a break from singing for two years after the birth of her son in 2004 but returned to her craft in 2006.
