Rescue teams are searching for at least three missing people in flood-hit Bavaria, with authorities confirming the body of a sixth victim has been found.
Damage to property in the affected regions of Lower Bavaria - which include Simbach am Inn, Triftern and other towns close to the Austrian border - is estimated to be in the hundreds of millions of euros, local officials say.
On Thursday, six people were found dead - three women from one family, a 75-year-old man and a 65-year-old man in the Bavarian town of Simbach am Inn and an 80-year-old woman in a neighbouring town.
"The most important thing today is to ensure the area-wide supply of drinking water and to restore the road network," a spokeswoman for the district of Rottal-Inn in southeastern Bavaria said on Friday.
Weather service DWD said rainfall was due to let up over the course of the day in most of the affected regions but new rainfall was expected in other areas of Germany.
