Sixers advance to all-Sydney WBBL final

The Sydney Sixers have defeated Hobart by ten wickets at the MCG and will face the Sydney Thunder in the women's Big Bash League final.

Lisa Sthalekar and Alyssa Healy starred in a 10-wicket win over the Hobart Hurricanes on Friday, helping the Sydney Sixers stroll into the women's Big Bash League final.

The inaugural WBBL champions will hail from Sydney, with the Sixers and Thunder to face off in Sunday's decider.

Sthalekar wound the clock back on Friday, grabbing figures of 3-9 from three overs, while Healy smacked 32 off 22 balls in the rain-affected semi.

The Hurricanes would have advanced to the final if the MCG clash had been a washout.

At various points in the day, that looked likely.

The match was shortened to 14 overs a side following afternoon showers.

Hobart amassed a total of 8-86 but heavy rain hammered the ground during the change of innings.

The Sixers' revised target was 55 runs off eight overs.

Southern Stars Healy and Ellyse Perry made light work of it, racing to 0-55 with 10 deliveries remaining.

"They were both very determined," Sthalekar said in the post-match ceremony.

"We did the job with bat and ball.

"It was just great the rain cleared and we were able to play the game."

Healy was dropped on 18 by Brooke Hepburn at square leg and never looked back, extending her side's incredible turnaround in the inaugural WBBL season.

The Sixers lost their opening six games but since boast a nine-match winning streak.

The quality and quantity of Sthalekar's wickets resulted in her being named player of the match.

Sthalekar dismissed Heather Knight, Erin Burns and Amy Satterthwaite - the only Hobart batters to make it into double figures.

"A return catch is always a nice way to start your spell," the 36-year-old said.

Sthalekar, who played 125 ODIs for Australia, came out of retirement to play the WBBL.
