The winless Sydney Sixers have scored a competitive 4-167 batting first against the undefeated Perth Scorchers in the New Year's Day BBL clash at the WACA Ground.

Jordan Silk was the leading light with 45 from 33 balls including three fours and a six.

Sam Billings also made 33 (21) for the Sixers, Peter Nevill 33 (30), Nic Maddinson 30 (22) and Ben Dwarshuis a handy 15 from eight balls at the finish.

The Sixers made a solid start scoring 1-55 off the first seven overs, only losing Englishman Jason Roy for six, when trapped in front to compatriot David Willey's first delivery.

It was solid going through the middle overs for the Sixers before a strong finish with 84 runs from the last eight overs, including 28 from the last two.
